Texas History Collection

Collected by: University of Texas at Arlington, Special Collections

Archived since: May, 2018

Description:

The Texas History Collection consists of websites related to Pre-Statehood History (1519-1845), Early Texas History (1845-1945), and Contemporary Regional Texas History (1945-present). The area now called Texas had a long and vibrant history before statehood in 1845. The Pre-Statehood History collecting area focuses on materials from 1519-1845 that showcase that time and the evolution toward statehood. The Early Texas History collecting area focuses on materials from post-statehood into the twentieth century. Because of the amount of growth and change throughout Texas during this period, this collecting area primarily focuses on the North Central Texas region, areas north of Waco, east of Abilene, west of Paris, and south of the Red River. The Contemporary Regional Texas History collecting area focuses on materials from 1945 to the present and narrows in geography from the North Central Texas region to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex time moves closer to the present.
